Adam rates Wes Craven highly, and defends Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Chris says Scream still worked even when he knew the twist, and Adam calls that a testament to Craven more than anything.
Adam says he is a bit annoyed that Scream gets the plaudits while people call New Nightmare shit. He says New Nightmare is only shit if you wanted Nightmare on Elm Street part 10. Adam also lists Craven with Carpenter and Dante as directors horror fans gravitate to.
In their own words
Adam I think that's a testament to Wes Craven, more than anything. I think he.
Ep 109 ScreamChris But yeah, but what was really funny is watching it for this is not a second time, and knowing the main twist, but still, it still really worked as being very entertaining. Like, even though you know who it is, seeing the way that they act throughout, it's like, it's still kind of plausible, you know, I mean, some of it is far-fetched, um, but ultimately, yeah, I was still surprised at just how well it worked, even though I knew what was going to happen.
Ep 109 ScreamAdam This is not a complexion on my take on Scream, definitely. But I also there is a part of me that does feel a bit annoyed. That Scream gets the plodits while loads of people say uh Wes Craven's New Nightmare shit. And Wes Craven's New Nightmare is shit if you wanted Nightmare on Elm Street part 10.
Ep 109 ScreamAdam But that's the thing is I think that it just goes to prove. Bob Clark is obviously very good, but in a chameleon-like way. Because a lot of the time I suppose a lot of the time, especially because we're horror nuts, so we are we gravitate to people who direct horror. Joe Dante, um, John Carpenter, Wes Craven, you know, and so on and so forth. Whereas Bob Clark is an example of someone who has done who has had a career of movies, not just specializing in horror or specializing in one thing or another and everything else like that. Because like Murder by Decree does have sinister bits. Murder by Decree has funny bits.
