Episode 257 looks at Baron Sordor's Theatre of the Doomed and its new season, The Chronicles of Cyanide Jones. It starts on 6 October 2026, with a new episode every week.
It is set in the neon-lit decay of the 22nd century. Cyanide Jones is a corporate assassin employed by Human Resources Management, who terminates contracts and employees permanently. A routine assignment pulls him into a conspiracy that stretches from the streets of Earth to New Chechnya, a nightmarish lunar city, and he learns that the future of humanity may already have been decided.
The publisher describes it as a blend of retro science fiction, horror, hard-boiled crime and immersive cinematic sound design, in a world of artificial humans, corporate armies, programmable weapons and forgotten cities on the surface of the Moon.

A different kind of season
The first two seasons were anthologies of standalone stories, apart from a few multi-part ones. This one is a single story told across 14 weekly episodes. The publisher says it was first planned as eight parts, and it grew as it was recorded and edited. It calls the season its most ambitious audio production to date.
Harvie says Cyanide Jones began as a graphic novel and then became a full novel, and that he wanted to give the character a chance to reach another audience in another medium. If listeners take to him, the plan is to continue his story with a trilogy.

About the podcast
Baron Sordor's Theatre of the Doomed is a horror and science-fiction audio drama in the style of the old live radio plays. It pays homage to 1960s anthology shows like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
Its first two seasons are anthologies mixing supernatural horror, dark fiction and sci-fi horror across different eras. Two of the stories run over several parts, and Jeff Martin of The Tea Party plays Baron Sordor.
